ShinRa
 | Location: Hokkaido island, Japan
Population: 2,000
ShinRa HQ is the home to some 2,000 scientists, engineers, and technicians. Working day and night, they're constantly developing new weapons and armors for their customers. Like an iceberg, ShinRa HQ is mostly hidden underground. Extending some 20 stories under the surface of the Earth, it is basically protected from any head-on attack that ShinRa's competitors might decide to execute. |
Neo-Tokyo
 | Location: Honshu island, Japan
Population: 10,873,000
When Neo-Tokyo was first built it was circulated in the general public as the new capital city that would replace Tokyo. It was in fact a fortress city for ambushing the Angels, which was built with the expectation of Angels coming to attack it. The city mainly served the function of supply and support. Armed buildings -- supporting facilities which are made to look like ordinary buildings -- stood inside the city like forests. Inside these buildings were the discharge outlets of EVA, electricity supplies, and a replenishment of weapon, ammunition, and supporting guns. There were also many ambush weapons installed around the city. However, after the planeshift Neo-Toyko was fully reconstructed into the new capitol and has become the largest city in the world. Even with the apparant destruction of the Angels, NERV still operates deep below Neo-Toyko's streets. |
NERV HQ
 | Location: Honshu island, Japan
Population: 5,420
Geo-Front, NERV's headquarters, is a big city buried deep underground below Neo-Tokyo. It was built using a pre-existing spherical cavity (though most of it had been under earth and dust at first). NERV HQ is located at the centre of Geo-Front and is surrounded by big forests and underground lakes. The many high-rising buildings that hang upside-down on the top part of Geo-Front are known as the "Ceiling City." It looks exactly the same as Neo-Tokyo, which sits above it, and was used to accomodate the lowered buildings of Neo-Tokyo when an Angel comes to attack. With the planeshift, the Ceiling City has become obsolete. NERV is now focusing its attention on protecting the planet from the threat of alien attack. |
Brutridge
 | Location: Tibet, China
Population: 2,250,000
Brutridge is the one of the largest cities in mainland Asia. Set within a valley, it is completely enclosed and protected against attack. Furthermore, the city walls are constantly under guard. The palace serves as one of many meeting places for The Council. Brutridge is also the only place in the world that one can find a Pokémon Gym: the Prism Gym. It is said that the mountains hide more than just this city.... |
Madripoor
 | Location: Indonesia
Population: 1,000,000
The Principality of Madripoor is a small island nation located in the Indonesian archepelago. It is ruled by Prince Baran, an absolute monarch whose dynastic forebears were the leaders of the freebooters who conquered the island. Madripoor's heritage of piracy has evolved into the present system of government whose laissez faire policy allows for virtually any sort of business transaction provided that the ruling status quo is not threatened. Moreover, Madripoor does not permit other nations to extradite criminals from within its borders. As a result, Madripoor has become an exotic diplomatic haven for many international crime lords and organizations. These criminals help maintain the stability of the government through a sophisticated system of corruption that includes payoffs to the Chancellor who runs the day-to-day government operations, and it is speculated, to the Prince himself.
Because of its strategic location near one of the major trade routes, Madripoor's harbor and dock facilities are among the largest and most extensive in the world. In addition, Madripoor has a large international airport capable of receiving Concorde flights. In keeping with its history of piracy, there are a number of isolated landing strips which are used by crime organizations for illegal operations ranging from white slavery to drug running.
The society and living conditions of Madripoor are an exotic paradox. The capital city, Madripoor, lays claim to the most luxurious and expensive hotels in the world. At the same time it possesses one of the most severe pockets of poverty on the planet. This economic polarization has effectively divided the capital city into two parts: Hightown, the haven of the very rich and powerful, and Lowtown, the domain of the hopelessly poor. Though no reliable census exists, the population is estimated to be at least one million. The indigenous population is a polyglot of Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, and other races. Though each ethnic group speaks and preserves its own language and heritage, English is the predominant language used in Madripoor. French is also commonly spoken, a reminder of the French colonial history in the area which included possession of Indochina, present day Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.
The island is mostly covered in jungle. Because so little cleared land is cultivatable, Madripoor is dependent on imports for virtually everything. The Council's Logan, aka Wolverine, uses the alias Patch while he is in Madripoor; he is co-owner of the Princess Bar. |
